1 Corinthians Questions & Summary

Summary: Paul reminds us that the things that have happed before (like all the Old Testament) was written for our sakes- to learn from, applicable to us now like no idols, the complaining, look at it not make the same mistakes. The same way God provided for them and they shared food and drink- oneness, just like we partake in communion, demonstrating our oneness in the body of Christ. Verse 7 the people lived life as usual, but became careless in the things of God- leading to idolatry cz they replaced Him and gave their affections to the things of the world. Then vs 12 highlights the importance of taking heed when the heart starts to think we’re firm cz that’s how pride starts- exalting of self- the more we get closer to God, the more humble we should be, seeing our imperfection and unqualified we are. 13 reminds us that there’s nothing new under the sun, the temptations we face has been faced by others, and God is faithful to deliver you from it/give you victory. He then continues to tell us to flee idolatry, be one in Christ,m. Although the things offered to idols are meaningless- the spirit behind those idols are demons- so thyre serving Satan and if we participate, we’re doing the same (verse 20). Then 21 highlights the importance of not mingling, you can’t mix things of God and the world, you can’t serve God and worldly things. 23-He then repeats (signifying the importance of it) that all things may not necessarily be wrong but they might not be beneficial. Reminding us to have the spirit of Christ, putting others before ourselves and their needs before us. 25-30 although for example there’s no issue with eating halal food, if the person was to like mention that it is halal, u shouldn’t because it’s then sending the message across that you condone their idolatry. Because all foods, everything is God’s (lawful) and we pray over it it’s purified, but for their conscience sake- not to be a stumbling block, don’t do it- basically reminding us to be brothers keeper. 31 then summarises summarisesthat whatever we do we do for the glory of God. To seek oeacepeace with all bas long as it dies(eunless it goes against God) = be our brother’s keeper. Doing all we can to save souls n not leading any to fall.
