1 Corinthians Questions & Summary

Chapter 13✅ Q, S & Application - why would the Holy Spirit give these gifts to people who lack love? Firstly the chapter said that those gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to those whom he chooses (doesn’t necessarily have a requirement you gotta have to get the gifts) like Judas who also like others had the gifts of healing/cast out demons but still without a character inspired by love. Ig those gifts are for the sake of serving others not necessarily proving holiness remember chap 12:7 “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:” (desire of ages: “the possession of gifts does not prove that a man is a Christian”) remember the quote tho( the strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and loveable Christian). So in short the gifts are given to serve others (people in general) by the will of the Holy Spirit. - Verse 9- 10? “At this time, we know only a part of everything. We can only speak a part of God's whole message. But a time will come when everything becomes complete. When God does that, we will not need the small bits that we have now.” - What’s that which is perfect? It’s the perfect love of God developed in us (perfect state) when Jesus return & in heaven, when this happens, the stuff we have in part will be done away, but love will stay standing (eternal) Application Love is what all good things flow from and applying it to our lives brings good not just to us but to all around us. In all we do, everything should be genuinely inspired by love whether by speaking, our reactions to things or acting on anything. Showing love=imitating Christ (for God is love) Verse 2 says without love we don’t have anything. To be able to conduct ourselves in love we must have love in us so the first step really is to seek-desire more daily of the gift greater than all.
