1 Thessalonians Chapter Notes

Summary: 1-2 When they could not endure the persecution, they stayed in Athens, and had to send timothy to encourage them and establish-ground them more concerning their faith. 3-5 to encourage and establish them in their faith so that they wouldn’t be shaken in the midst of affliction, cz afflictions with the faith. So they sent Tim to check on them, to see where they are standing, that the labour (of sharing the msg) wasn’t in vain. 6-8 Timothy went back to them with good new, their faith and love are going well, and they also had them in mind wanting to see them. With all they were going through (Paul and Silas- their suffering) looking at them and seeing that it wasn’t in vain, they were comforted. Now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord: their success spiritually, like seeing them thrive is what pushes them to keep going even while suffering. 9-10 So thankful for them and so joyful for their sake. Night and day they pray so much for them, to see their faith perfected. 11-13 Now he’s praying for them, he wants to see them and is praying God makes it possible, and that they love one another as they love them (Paul and Silas). Praying for them to stay blameless before God, for their salvation, ready at the coming of Jesus.
