Questions: - vs 9? The church has a list of who to support frequently- the tithe and offering was meant for widows, so in this verse it’s saying who’s allowed. There’s a one off support, but those on the list that are frequent have to meet a criteria in order to be regularly supported. So they gotta over 60- and verse 11 says why no the younger ones. - Vs 23 alcohol used in the right way (not manufactured) can be used for medicinal purposes- not to get drunk and that, same way some alcohol is used in sanitiser to kill the bacteria. - Timothy suffered from chronic stomach problems and frequent illness- likely caused by contaminated water that might’ve been in Ephesus, wine was used to purify water and aid digestion, and his strict abstinence from wine had led him to drink water only- they didn’t have filtration systems so they used wine to kill bacteria and harmful pathogens of water & bcz he didn’t drink (cz it’s not right) he got sick, so Paul is telling him to not only drink water anymore, for his stomach’s sake- medicinal purposes
