2 Corinthians Questions, Summary & Application

Summary: 1-6 Paul starts off by stating he doesn’t wanna brag but he had a supernatural experience, he doesn’t want to say bcz he doesn’t wanna exalt self. (Teaching us not to boast- but walk in humility). 7-10 bcz of all the work he’s doing for the Lord, it’d be easy for him to start boasting (which could lead to losing salvation) so in love God allows a thorn in his way to keep him humble (for his sake)- he got physical pain (severe, intense pain- spear/thorn). And he prayed for it to go away 3x but God said my grace is sufficient for u, when ur at ur weakest, MY power is shown (ur strong) see Isiah 40:29. “He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” Isaiah 40:29 NKJV 11-13 they have him acting like a fool (boasting) they should be commending him, he shouldn’t need to do the boasting. He says he’s not inferior to any of the other apostles, he’s done signs etc. The only thing he hasn’t done is become a financial burden- “forgive me” for that, he says sarcastically. 14-21 he says he’s coming to de them again, not wanting anything from them, but them, using the scenario of a parent to children (how they don’t get stuff rom their kids but the kids from them, and how they just want the kids. He has genuine love for them, and he feels the more he loves them, the less he’s loved- questioned- doubted. He says he’s not tryna use any tricks to manipulate them, nor did the those whom he sent- they with one spirit genuinely care about run and wanna serve. All they do is for their benefit, he then writes that there are problems that need to be tackled, lest when he comes he finds them not acting right (jealousies, backbiting etc) and will respond how they won’t like. He’s afraid when he comes some will still be or acting old sins, not given up- which will hurt him n cause him to mourn.
