1 Corinthians Questions & Summary

Summary: the chapter talks about the different roles in the church, spiritual gifts and unity of the body. Paul starts off by telling them he wants em to be informed and not ignorant as they previously were, following dumb idols (vs 2). Vs 3 then explains that being under the influence of the Spirit, there shouldn’t be division-concerning these spiritual gifts cz the info is coming from the same source (The Holy Spirit). There are different kinds of gifts n roles in the church but the same God directing it all so there should be unisom. All those different gifts, the Holy Spirit gives to us, as members of Christ, to benefit the whole body (the church). 8-11 outlines some of the different gifts and say thyre all from the same source (The Holy Spirit) and we don’t demand, He divides it among the body, AS HE WILLS- not as we demand. From 12-26 he describes how the body of Christ is like our literally body, how all the parts make one body, all members needed, if the whole part was an ear, there wouldn’t be a body, and a head wouldn’t say the feet aren’t needed. They’re all equally needed, so we should be united cz we all need each other, if I trip, the whole body will feel the pain, if I’m happy I’m gonna jump, the whole body will celebrate- so should it be within the body of Christ. We can’t all be miracle workers, healing, speaking tongues, interpreting- Thyre distributed to the different members of the church as needed for the benefit of all. So don’t over-value or devalue one member over another, none is inferior or superior, as all equally needed for the best benefit of the whole body.
