2 Corinthians Questions, Summary & Application

Summary: there’s a heaven to look forward to, prepared by God, and our assurance/guarantee, the Holy Spirit. We walk by faith, aiming to please God, cz we’ll appear b4 Him in judgement. The guarantor transforms us, new creation, his love then compels us to want others saved too. Saved to serve. His representatives on earth. 1-4 is talking about how we’re gonna get a new body and how we’re groaning for it. He’s comparing the body we have now and the one we’ll have later, calling this one a tent: temporary, and the heavenly: eternal. Like camping and being at home, and how we groan n look forward to be home (see 1 cor 15:54). 5 God is preparing this for us and has given us the Holy Spirit as a gurantee (Ephesians 1:13-14). 6-8 when absent from body we present with the Lord and when I the body we’re away from Him, so while we’re here, we gotta live by faith (cz we don’t see Him yet) see Philippians 1:21-23. 9-11 aiming to please God whether absent from Him (still in the body) or still with Him. Because we’re all gonna stand before His judgement seat, receiving the reward of our works whether good or bad (the reward for our bad is Christ took that punishment) so we’re justified, let free (John 3:18). And since know how serious that day will be, we strive to persuade people, to accept Christ and have life, and God knows our motive and he trusts that the Corinthians also see that. “We are not trying again to make you think that our work is good. But we do want to give you the chance to be proud of us. Then you will be able to show the false teachers that they are wrong. They are proud about what they look like on the outside. They do not think about what they are really like inside themselves.” Easy version, 5:12. 13 were okay with being called crazy for the sake of God, instead of tryna be “sane/normal) for people/ Whether he whatever he does seems insane or sensible, it’s all driven by devotion to God or for the benefit of the people. 14-15 that were controlled by His love, that we live for Him and no longer ourselves. 16 “So that changes how we think about people. We no longer use human ideas to think what they are like. At one time, we thought about Christ as humans think. But now we think about him very differently!” 2 Corinthians 5:16 EASY 17 those in Christ are completely different people. Thyre old self is dead/passed away, in Christ thyre a new creation (born again experience by the Holy Spirit). 18-19 the gospel summarised, and us invited to be apart of that rescue mission, saved to serve. We are ambassadors of Christ/ His representatives in earth, mouth piece, imploring people to come to God n be reconciled. God made Jesus who knew no sin, to become sin, and we now have His righteousness- Isaiah 53:5.
