Ephesians Questions & Summary

Summary: 1-3 Before Christ, we were dead, lost in our sins, being led by Satan - our obedience being given to him- living according to the flesh. By nature children of wrath like others (we too were heading for that wrath which is to be poured out on sinners, along with the other sinners). BUT GOD who’s rich in mercy- (have mercy on me Oh God according to the MULTITUDE of ur tender mercies 🥹 psalms 51) because of His great love (For God so loved the world -John 3:16). 5. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 6 by faith we have these things: raised us up and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. 7 the Father done this, that in the ages to come we’ll see His grace and kindness. 8 we’ve been saved by grace (undeserved favour from God) through faith (by placing trust in what Jesus has done) we didn’t do anything to have this, it’s a gift 🎁 from God 😊 9. we can’t boast cz we had nothing to do with it. 10 God created to do good works (loving Him and serving our neighbours) - His plan- for us to live happily in harmony, communing with Him, each other and the angels🥰 11-13 talks about the separation that was between the Jews and gentiles- uncircumcised and circumcised- but when Jesus died, it brought union between these (Galatians 3:28🥰). Black people were proper outsiders- a curse- descendants of hem through kush (Africans) and due to Noah’s curse- so proper segregation. We were strangers to God’s covenant (worshiping other gods- ancestral worship n that- Africans) BUT now- after Jesus we’re united and the ones closely walking with God (like most Africans u meet are Christian) 14-18 Jesus is our peace (not have peace but is peace) He united us. 15 “by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,” Ephesians 2:15 NIV (He put those factors that brought separation- traditional etc aside and united us). 17-18 Jesus came and preached Himself (unity- character- showing what God is about) and through Him we have access to the Father by the Spirit. 19-22 were no longer outsiders, we all in the same household- siblings- body of Christ. And the house we’re in is built on the foundation of apostles and prophets, with Christ as the cornerstone (without the cornerstone, the house will fall-mt 7:24-27) He keeps the house which He brought us in together. We’re members of the household of God which was built on the apostles and prophets (as the foundation- like thy started the ministry of sharing the gospel- good of Jesus Christ) - the message is the foundation and Christ is the chief cornerstone- main foundation). The apostles and prophets were used by God to reveal Himself, they shared what God revealed- the foundation- the message. And Jesus the chief cornerstone is the foundation where all this is laid upon. 21-22 We start off being brought into the household, then joined to the Lord (one spirit with Him- Corinthians) and with that we are then part of the building doing the same work as the apostles and stuff- 2 cor 2:15) sharing Christ in every place. We become His dwelling place- we don’t find in temples and buildings - where 2 more are gathered, He is there. 😊
