Ephesians Questions & Summary

Summary: Paul continues from chapter 2, saying for that reason (he stated in chapter 2 “Because God has made Jews and Gentiles one people in Christ, and because you Gentiles are now fellow citizens and members of God’s household, I am praying for you.”). am a prisoner for Christ for your sake - Paul in prison while writing this. 2-3 the grace of God was given to him to share the gospel with the genitives (as the Jews also received cz thyre equal) Mystery: thyre all equal- Jew gentilles (Galatians 3:28) 4-7 talks about the mystery (of the gospel being for all) had not previously been clearly revealed to previous generations, but after Jesus, is now being clearly revealed (God told Abraham in you ALL the families of the earth shall be blessed- not just Jews- Gen 12:3). Back then it wasn’t clear, but after Jesus, it became very clear- He removed the wall of separation (as said in previous chapter). It has been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: uniting Jews and gentiles, as equal, equally hiers (gal 3:28) and Paul had that work to share the msg. Mystery? Because ppl wonder why the Jews were chosen and others seen as less.- we don’t understand. 8-13 - he’s humbling himself- like he’s the least of the saints (he was killing Christians) him out of all people was chosen to share that same message (marvellous grace) - Paul out of all people would understand this grace- cz he experienced - he’s so unworthy of it (from being a murderer of God’s people to being picked by God to serve) unsearchable riches (riches of mercy- psalms 51 - multitude of His tender mercies which Paul personally experienced- Luke 7: 47). So Paul and the other apostles called to reveal this mystery (which was previously hidden in God who created all things (ALL-ppl) for God so loved the WORLD- not just Jews, whoever believes - not just Jews- not a new teaching or message- has always been since the foundations of the world- 13:8- that lamb was slain for us all- when Adam and Eve sinned- this msg rolled out through the lamb being slain) by the Holy Spirit. 10. So God did this with the intention that as the plan of salvation plays out, through the church (us) would reveal His manifold (great/much) wisdom to us, angels- all other worlds watching- clearing His name which Satan had marred with false accusations. 11-13 according to His eternal (plan of salvation- that the Father and son had made wayyyy before) which He accomplished through Jesus Christ. 12 Before Christ, us sinners could not at all come before the Father (we couldn’t come before Him boldly bcz of our sins) and in the OT people couldn’t come before Him- they needed the priest as a mediator (who also pointed to Jesus our mediator) Adam and Eve when they sinned were ashamed and hid from God, it was only after the lamb had been slain and them covered with its skin, that they could now come before God and commune. Bcz why? They came in Jesus name. Through Jesus!!!!!🤩🤩🤩 And now us too, can come boldly before the Father in Jesus name, we have access, don’t need to feel guilty or ashamed after asking for forgiveness cz Jesus covers, and we can go ask for forgiveness boldly in Jesus name- Hebrews 4:16!!!!. 13 Paul then encourages them not to lose heart because of what he’s going through - which is their glory? - cz it furthers gospel, this msg he’s sharing for them- it was for their good. 14-21 Appreciation of the mystery. Paul gets on his knees(reverence)- approaches the Father in Jesus’ name (14-15) the style Jesus gave to pray with- the structure He gave us. Praying for them to be spiritually strengthened (inner man being renewed day by day- 2 cor 4:16) (according to His mercy). 17 Christ dwelling in our hearts- being rooted and grounded in Him in love (the foundation- cornerstone) and with this that we may be able to understand how huge His love is, His love is so high, so wide- His love is beyond understanding (especially with our limited brains- like even the angels desire to look into it, like they don’t understand it fully, we too it’s way past our comprehension- it’s like a drop in the ocean). 19 so Paul is praying that we may be able to grasp and understand this love that is (passed knowledge) that we may be filled with all the fullness of God- by being grounded in Him cz in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily - we can truly know His love (love is long suffering etc) but not fully- (dim mirror- Corinthians). 20-21 May the glory be to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly (much much more) above all that we ask or think (can imagine), according to the power (the Holy Spirit) - transforming our inward man day- by day works in us- changing us- transforming us- from glory to glory (works: continual working)= Moses said show me your glory, God described His character. So us too are going from glory to glory- into His character- final results - holy as He is holy!🥰🥰 to Him be the glory, forever and every, Amen!❤️ This was so beautiful!😊 Spirit of prophecy quotes: “The Saviour longs to give us a greater blessing than we ask...” “Confessing our helplessness and bitter need, we are to trust ourselves wholly to His love.” Verse 20 “God will do for us ‘exceeding abundantly,’ ‘according to the riches of His glory,’ and ‘the working of His mighty power.’” “The heart that has once tasted of the love of Christ, cries out continually for a deeper draft...” “Every revelation of God to the soul increases the capacity to know and to love.” “Our souls should be continually athirst for the water of life. Our hearts should ever go out after Christ, longing for communion with Him.”
