Galatians Questions & Summary

Summary Paul starts off by greeting the church in Galatia (introducing himself and saying who sent him- God). He blesses them wishing them peace from God who sent Jesus to deliver them from sins. He then starts off with his main point about them turning from the true gospel n receiving other messages, surprised that thyre turning away so quick. He then says if anyone (including an angel) peaches any other gospel, let him be cursed (do not receive anything other than what’s written in the bible- thus says the Lord). He repeats this (=important). He emphasises that he’s not there to please anyone but God (can’t be a bond servant of Christ while pleasing the world/ bond servant of Christ= world OPP). He emphasises that the gospel he’s sharing isn’t from himself, nor anyone else, not man, but Christ Himself- who revealed it to him. He then talks about his past- how he was persecuting the church thinking he was doing it for God (but actually doing it it cz of the father’s traditions) but the God who knew him before he was born, called him by his grace that he might reveal His son to him, to preach His gospel among gentiles. He says he didn’t go seeking for advice from ppl- not even to those who were already sharing it (the apostles) but was taught by God n shared as was revealed to him. He went to Arabia (to be alone with God n be taught- kinda like John in the wilderness or Jesus or Moses) then returned to Damascus. It was only after 3 years that he went out- to see Peter (15 days) and also saw James (the brother of Jesus). He then acknowledges that what he’s saying is true- God as witness. 21-24 he continues to say the places he went where most ppl didn’t know him- but had only heard of him through word that was going around “he who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy” and they glorified God. Verse: Galatians 1:8 NKJV “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”
