Galatians Questions & Summary

Summary: 1-4 Paul is shocked- even describing them as bewitched and foolish because now is it that they are going away from the truth, Jesus’ death was as clear and the message clear- his death=fulfilling the law, and their salvation now being through faith, not the keeping of the law. 2 he asks if they received the Holy Spirit by the doing of the law or by hearing and believing. (They didn’t earn Him, He was gift). 3. God started the work and now thyre tryna finish it themselves (works- own strength- law). 4. Have you come so far (all the sacrifices and self denial) just to come this far- done all that just to be disqualified. Does God give you the gift of the Spirit because of faith or by you keeping the law. 6. Abraham believed and it was counted to him for righteousness- he didn’t have to do all that thyre doin- (Gen 15:6). 7-9 Just as Abraham was justified by believing- (people aren’t referred to as children of Abraham bcz of blood relation but the faith aspect). In you All nations shall be blessed (those who have the same faith). 10 is saying that those who are tryna be under the law are cooked bcz the law requires perfect keeping or ur cursed/lost. Nobody is justified by the law- nobody can keep it. “The just shall live by faith”. 12 although a person isn’t justified by the law, a saved person lives by the law (in their hearts). It’s written cursed is the one who hangs on a tree, Jesus became the curse for us!🥹😩14 the blessing of Abraham (all nations being blessed through him) comes to all those who believe- Abraham being saved by faith, they too saved by faith in Jesus Christ, and receive the promise of the Holy Spirit by believing. 15-18 Paul gives an example of normal day to day, if people make a covenant and both confirm it, nobody can cancel it or add to it. 16- gen 22:18 says “in your Seed, all nations of the earth shall be blessed”.17 the law being given to them did not eradicate the promise God had previously given to Abraham (the Seed coming to save) this promise was also given to Adam and Eve “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”” Genesis 3:15 NKJV. 18 if the inheritance (blessing through Abraham) comes through the law, it’s no longer of promise, but God gave that blessing by promise (not the keeping of the law). 19 what’s the point of the law then? To show us our sins/condition- that we need a saviour, the law was there to show our sins -till the promise of the Seed came(Jesus) to us whom it was promised to. Those laws (mosaic laws) were given by the angels to Moses (the mediator). Usually a mediator is there to mediate between 2 parties, but God made a promise and fulfilled it. Is the law then against the promise of God? No, because if we could be saved by the law, we woulda been saved by it. 22 we all have sinned and in need of a saviour- no one is righteous. 23 Before the gift of faith, the law was there to keep us under guard, showing us how helpless our situation is and pointing to the coming Helper/Saviour. The law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, but after faith has come, we’re no longer under that tutor or law, Whom it was pointing us to has come. 26-29 were all children of God (sons and heirs) through Christ. No matter the differences/ how you look, status etc, there’s no new or Greek, male or female, we’re all children of God through Christ 😊🥰
