Galatians Questions & Summary

Summary 1-7 Paul starts off by giving an analogy of an heir who’s still a child (not being that different from a salve) even though he is of high status, he’s still being told what to do as salve, and needing guardian etc, until the time appointed by the father, till that child is old enough to be entrusted to that power. Even so us white Christ came, we was under the things of the world - ceremonies etc. When the time was right, the Father sent the son to come and redeem us that we might become His children under adoption. And as His children, He’s given us the Holy Spirit - pleading for us and bringing intimacy between us and God (ABBA Father). 8-11 after knowing God and turning away from your idols, old was- how is it that you’re turning bac? And he says he fears his work (in bringing them to Christ) was in vain. 12 he then tells them to become like him (imitate him as he Christ’s) He first came to them when I’ll and they looked after him and treated him well. They were very zealous before when he shared the truth with them but now thyre acting like he’s an enemy by sharing the truth. There are false teachers who are tryna get em to be zealous with the false teachings thyre giving to them. Paul says it’s a good thing to be zealous, but for the good things even when not being watched. Paul labours for them, wanting Christ’s cataractes to be formed in them. Paul talks about the two covenants using Hagar and Sarah as example. Ishamael representing flesh and Isaac - spirit/ promise. One covenant was Abraham tryna fulfil the promise by works- representing the flesh and the other is Isaac (the promised one) coming at the right time. So as Ishmael born of flesh persecuted Isaac born of the spirit, so it is now- so those who were tryna get salvation by works persecuted those who accepted it by faith. So then one needs to be cast out, we can’t be tryna be saved by faith and works (us tryna earn salvation and accepting by faith) we need to pick one- and cast away the other. Pick salvation by faith, not tryna fulfill the law in our efforts. Then ends the chapter by saying we are children of the free (promise) not the bond woman.
